Hemorrhoids are soft clusters of veins formed by the dilation and varicosity of venous plexuses in the submucosal layer of the distal rectum and the subcutaneous tissue of the anal canal; they are an anal condition that can cause bleeding, thrombosis, or prolapse of the clusters. The diet should consist of foods that are nutritious, easily digestible, and high in fiber. Foods that lubricate the intestines and promote bowel movements, cool the blood and stop bleeding, dispel blood stasis and relieve pain, and tonify qi and nourish blood are also recommended.
