Seed propagation: Select seeds from 15–30-year-old mother trees with uniform trunk thickness, short internodes, and high yields. Choose fruits that will ripen the following year (early to late June) and have golden-yellow skin for seed collection.After harvesting, sun-dry the fruits for 1–2 days. Once the peel is slightly dry, induce germination using the moist sand layering method or the pile method. Germination occurs in about 20 days; sow the seeds when the sprouts reach 3 cm in length. Seedlings can be raised in seedbeds or nutrient bags. In commercial production, the nutrient bag method is most commonly used. Seedlings are ready for transplanting after growing for about one year, when they reach a height of 50–60 cm and have 5–6 leaves.Transplanting takes place in February–March or August–October in Hainan, and in May–June in Yunnan.
