Pomegranate
The pomegranate is the fruit of Punicaceae plants, sour and warm in nature. It contains punicic acid, estrone, estradiol, β-sitosterol and mannitol. It astringes intestines and stops bleeding, indicated for persistent diarrhea, chronic dysentery, uterine bleeding and leukorrhea.
Pomegranate Peel
Pomegranate peel is sour, astringent and warm, containing tannins, pelletierine, mannitol, gum, mucilage, gallic acid, malic acid, pectin and calcium oxalate. Kumquat

It tonifies the spleen and harmonizes the stomach, replenishes qi to generate fluid, regulates nutrient and defense qi, and neutralizes medicinal toxicity. Hawthorn Fruit
Hawthorn fruit comes from Rosaceae Crataegus pinnatifida, sour-sweet and slightly warm. It contains tartaric acid, citric acid, crataegic acid, flavonoids, lactones, saccharides, glycosides and abundant vitamin C. It digests food stagnation, dissipates blood stasis, expels tapeworms and stops dysentery. It treats red-white dysentery, postpartum pain from blood stasis, hypertension, insufficient coronary blood supply in coronary heart disease, infantile milk-food stagnation, infantile malnutrition and chronic diarrhea due to spleen deficiency.
Mume Fruit / Dark Plum
Mume fruit is the dried unripe fruit of Rosaceae Prunus mume, sour and warm. It astringes the lung, binds intestines, generates fluid and calms roundworms. It relieves persistent cough from lung deficiency, chronic diarrhea and dysentery, consumptive thirst, abdominal colic and vomiting caused by roundworm syncope.
Plum Blossom (Green Calyx Plum Blossom)
Also known as red plum blossom or green calyx plum blossom; single-petaled green calyx blossoms are preferred medicinally. Slightly sour and astringent, it stimulates appetite and relieves stagnation, generates fluid to quench thirst. It treats plum qi syndrome (globus hystericus) and prevents smallpox in children. Congee boiled with plum blossoms lifts spirits.
Mulberry Fruit
Mulberry fruit is the fruit ear of Moraceae Morus alba, sweet and cold. It contains sugars, tannic acid, malic acid, vitamin B/C and carotene. It nourishes blood and yin, tonifies liver and kidney. Diaphragma Juglandis (Walnut Septum)
Also named walnut partition, thin woody flakes, light, crisp and easy to break. Faint odor, slightly bitter taste. It astringes essence and relieves stranguria, indicated for spermatorrhea, enuresis, lumbago and dysphagia.
Green Walnut Husk (Qinglongyi)
Dried fleshy peel of unripe walnut, grayish-green to gray-black on surface, astringent and bitter. Mostly for external use to treat stubborn tinea.
Longan Aril / Dried Longan Pulp
Longan aril is the aril of Sapindaceae Dimocarpus longan, sweet, astringent and non-toxic. It contains glucose, sucrose, tartaric acid, adenine, choline, protein, fat, vitamin A & B. It tonifies heart and spleen, replenishes qi and blood, nourishes blood to calm spirit. It treats palpitations, severe anxiety, insomnia and forgetfulness from heart-spleen dual deficiency, insufficient qi and blood, spleen-deficiency diarrhea, postpartum edema in women.
Lotus Seed
Lotus seed is the fruit or seed of Nymphaeaceae Nelumbo nucifera, sweet, astringent and mild. It contains plenty of starch, raffinose, protein, fat, calcium, iron, phosphorus and liensinine, carbohydrates. It nourishes the heart to calm spirit, tonifies kidney to consolidate essence, invigorates spleen to stop diarrhea and leukorrhea. It relieves dawn diarrhea, chronic diarrhea, dysentery with inability to eat, spermatorrhea, uterine bleeding, leukorrhea, menorrhagia, habitual abortion, hematuria.
Stamen Nelumbinis (Lotus Stamen)
Dried stamens of lotus, sweet, astringent and mild. Containing quercetin, luteolin, isoquercitrin, luteolin glucoside and alkaloids. It clears heart fire, consolidates kidney, astringes essence and stops bleeding, used for nocturnal emission, hematemesis, nosebleed, uterine bleeding, leukorrhea, diarrhea and dysentery.
Plumula Nelumbinis (Lotus Plumule)
Green germ of ripe lotus seed, bitter, cold and non-toxic. It clears heart heat, suitable for febrile disease with high fever and delirium, hyperactive heart fire with restlessness and hypertension. Its alkaloids have cardiotonic, hypotensive and libido-suppressing effects.
Water Chestnut
Water chestnut is the corm of Cyperaceae Eleocharis dulcis, sweet, slightly cold and slippery. It contains starch, protein, calcium, iron, phosphorus, vitamin A/B/C, nicotinic acid and puchiin. It clears heat and generates fluid, resolves phlegm, cools blood, eliminates stagnation and improves eyesight. It relieves sore throat, hematochezia, hypertension, general edema, dysuria, red-white dysentery.
Water Caltrop
Water caltrop pulp comes from Trapaceae Trapa plants, sweet and cool. It contains starch, glucose, protein and anti-cancer substances. It clears heat and detoxifies, replenishes qi and invigorates spleen, used for diarrhea, uterine cancer, gastric cancer, esophageal cancer and other malignancies.
Sugarcane
Sugarcane stalk belongs to Poaceae Saccharum officinarum, sweet, mild and astringent. It contains saccharides, calcium, phosphorus, iron. Peanut
Peanut seed is from Fabaceae Arachis hypogaea, sweet and mild. It contains fatty oil, nitrogenous compounds, starch, cellulose, minerals, vitamin B, α- and γ-tocopherol. It moistens lung, harmonizes stomach, dispels phlegm and stops bleeding, suitable for chronic cough, chronic nephritis and immune thrombocytopenic purpura.
