How To Make

Wash the processed He Shou Wu, slice it, sun-dry or oven-dry it, grind it into a coarse powder, place it in a muslin bag, seal the opening with a string, and place it in a cup with the green tea. Pour boiling water over the mixture, cover, and let steep for 15 minutes before drinking.

Efficacy

Clears heat and detoxifies; nourishes yin and strengthens the kidneys; nourishes blood and lowers lipids. Suitable for all types of hyperlipidemia.

Usage

Drink frequently as a tea substitute; it can generally be steeped 3–5 times in a row.

Processed He Shou Wu (Zhi He-shou-wu) assumes the leading (chief) role. Bitter, sweet, astringent-slightly warm in property, it enters the Liver, Heart, Kidney meridians, and works to tonify blood, nourish the liver and kidney and secure essence. Green tea (Lu-cha) acts as the coordinating (envoy) herb, working to clear heat, resolve dampness and refresh the mind and unite the separate actions into one.
