The ministerial support — astragalus (with slightly warm nature and sweet flavor, having Spleen, Lung tropism, tonifies qi, raises yang, secures the exterior and promotes the discharge of pus), and eucommia bark (nature warm, flavor sweet, channeled into the Liver, Kidney, tonifies the liver and kidneys, strengthens the sinews and bones, and calms the fetus) — reinforces the sovereign’s main effect and coordinates the drug strength. Completing the formula, coix seeds and cinnamon bark, tempering the formula’s tendency, and farmed venison, rich in blood-and-flesh essence, nourishing the righteous qi, and scallions, harmonizing the stomach and supporting dietary nourishment, and ginger, acting as the envoy to harmonize the various ingredients, so that potency is moderated and stomach qi protected.
