Drug Formulation
1 handful of large wild onions, 2 liang of Perilla frutescens leaves, 3–4 jin of willow twigs, 1 handful of coriander (if unavailable, coriander seeds may be used instead).

Benefits
Smallpox with “reverse-gate” syndrome in children. Symptoms include delirium and rambling speech, restlessness and agitation, convulsions of the hands and feet, bulging eyes, abdominal distension, a faint and weak pulse, deep unconsciousness; or spots that disappear immediately upon being seen; or bleeding from the mouth, nose, and both the urinary and fecal tracts.
Instructions for Use
Boil these ingredients together in a large pot filled with river water until it comes to a boil several times. First, pour half the pot’s contents into a tub; when the water reaches a comfortable temperature, thoroughly wash the patient’s entire body. Apply the warm water to the abdomen, then gradually increase the heat until the patient is fully immersed in the hot bath and begins to sweat. Cover the patient with a thick blanket; the rash will then appear. The severity of the condition—as determined by the nature and abundance of the discharge—will indicate whether the patient will survive or not.
