Commentary
Processed He Shou Wu (Zhi He-shou-wu) assumes the leading (chief) role. Bitter, sweet, astringent-slightly warm in property, it enters the Liver, Heart, Kidney meridians, and works to tonify blood, nourish the liver and kidney and secure essence. Green tea (Lu-cha) acts as the coordinating (envoy) herb, working to clear heat, resolve dampness and refresh the mind and unite the separate actions into one. The overall effect is to clear heat and detoxify, nourish yin and strengthen the kidneys, nourish blood and lower lipids, restoring balance within the dyslipidemia framework.
