Commentary
Taking Amomum villosum (Sha-ren) as the chief herb, the formula draws on its pungent flavor and warm property: it channels into the Spleen, Stomach, Kidney meridians and works to move qi, warm the middle and resolve dampness. Walnut kernels (He-tao-ren) take the deputy (minister) role; warm and sweet in character, it travels through the Kidney, Lung, Large Intestine meridians to tonify the kidney, warm the lung and moisten the intestines.
