6 TCM Recipes for ED & Lower Back Pain

1.Red Wolfberry, Black Sea Cucumber and Pigeon Egg

[Functions] Nourish the Kidney and moisten the Lung, nourish the Liver and improve eyesight.

[Indications] Applicable for signs of imbalance such as deficiency of essence and blood, debility due to chronic wellness, impotence, and spermatorrhea.

[Formula] 15 grams of Lycii Fructus (Gou Qi Zi), 2 pieces of sea cucumbers soaked in water, 12 pigeon eggs, 5 grams of salt, 30 grams of Shaoxing wine, 1 gram of monosodium glutamate, 3 grams of white pepper powder, 15 grams of soy sauce, 100 grams of lard, 500 grams of peanut oil (75 grams consumed), an appropriate amount of chicken broth, ginger, green onion, bean starch, regular broth, and water-diluted bean starch.

[Preparation Method] Thoroughly remove the inner membrane of the black sea cucumber. Blanch it twice in regular broth, rinse clean, and then use a sharp knife to score a diamond-shaped pattern on the abdominal wall (do not cut all the way through to maintain its intact shape). Place pigeon eggs in a pot with cold water and cook over low heat until done. Remove and place in cold water, then peel off the shells and place them in a bowl. Cut the green onions into sections and crush the ginger. Heat peanut oil in a pot until boiling, roll the pigeon eggs in dry bean flour, and then fry them in the oil until they turn yellow, then remove. Heat 50 grams of lard in the pot, and when it boils, stir-fry the green onions and ginger. Then pour in chicken broth, boil briefly, and remove the ginger and green onions. Add the black sea cucumber, soy sauce, Shaoxing wine, and pepper powder. After boiling, skim off the foam, and simmer over low heat for about 40 minutes. Add the pigeon eggs and cleaned wolfberries, and simmer for another 10 minutes. Remove the black sea cucumber and arrange it on a plate (back side up) with the pigeon eggs surrounding it. Add monosodium glutamate to the sauce, adjust the flavor, thicken with water-diluted bean flour, and then pour 50 grams of boiling lard over it. Pour the sauce over the black sea cucumber and pigeon eggs.

[Usage] Take freely as desired, or consume alongside meals.

2.Cistanche deserticola Porridge

[Functions] Tonify the Kidney and nourish the Liver.

[Indications] Impotence, lumbago, aversion to cold.

[Formula] Cistanche deserticola Y.C.Ma (tender) 200 grams, Fructus Crataegi 50 grams, mutton 100 grams.

[Preparation Method] Scrape off the scales of Cistanche deserticola, wash it with wine to remove the black juice, and slice it into thin pieces. Slice Cornus officinalis and mutton into thin pieces respectively. Then place them in a pot, add water to boil, add an appropriate amount of seasonings, and consume after the soup is prepared.

[Usage] Take at will or consume as a dietary supplement.

3.Steamed Chicken with Rice Wine

[Formula] 1 rooster, 500 grams of glutinous rice wine.

[Preparation Method] Slaughter the rooster, remove its internal organs, clean it thoroughly, chop it into pieces the size of walnuts, place them in a small basin, add two sections of green onion, two slices of ginger, five peppercorns, and the aforementioned glutinous rice wine, then steam in a steamer until cooked.

[Usage] Take freely as desired, or consume as a dietary accompaniment.

4.Tuan Yu Er Zi Decoction

[Functions] Tonify the Liver and Kidney.

[Indications] wellness and signs of imbalance such as lumbago, spermatorrhea, dizziness, and blurred vision caused by Yin Deficiency of Liver and Kidney.

[Formula] 1 Trionyx sinensis (soft-shelled turtle), 15 – 20 grams of Ligustri Lucidi Fructus (glossy privet fruit), 30 grams of Lycii Fructus (Chinese wolfberry).

[Preparation Method] After scalding the soft-shelled turtle in hot water, remove its internal organs and head, cut it into pieces, and boil it in water together with Ligustri Lucidi Fructus (Glossy Privet Fruit) and Lycii Fructus (Goji Berry). After the meat is cooked, drink the soup and eat the meat.

[Usage] Consume in 2 to 3 portions.

5.Eucommia Kidney Flanks

[Functions] Nourishes the Liver and Kidney, strengthens the sinews and bones, and lowers blood pressure.

[Indications] Kidney-deficiency lumbar pain, unsteady gait, impotence, spermatorrhea, dizziness, frequent urination, senile deafness, hypertension, and other signs of imbalance.

[Formula] Eucommia Bark (Duzhong) 12 g, Pork Kidney 250 g, Shaoxing Wine 25 g, Scallion 50 g, Monosodium Glutamate 1 g, Soy Sauce 50 g, Vinegar 2 g, Bean Starch 20 g, Garlic 10 g, Ginger 10 g, Salt 5 g, Sugar 3 g, Sichuan Pepper 1 g, Blended Oil 100 g.

[Preparation Method] Split the pork Kidneys into two pieces each, remove the odorous tendons and membranes, and cut them into Kidney flower shapes. Add Eucommia ulmoides bark to water and boil it down to a concentrated decoction of 50 milliliters (alternatively, first prepare a 1:1 concentration medicinal liquid from Eucommia ulmoides bark, take 12 milliliters each time, and then dilute it with water). Clean the ginger and green onions of any dirt. Cut the ginger into thumbnail-sized pieces and the green onions into sections, and set them aside. Mix half of the Eucommia ulmoides bark decoction with 15 grams each of Shaoxing wine, bean starch, and salt to marinate the Kidney flowers. Combine sugar, monosodium glutamate, vinegar, soy sauce, and 5 grams of bean starch to make a seasoning sauce, and set it aside. Heat a wok over high heat, pour in the blended oil, and when it reaches eight-tenths hot, add Sichuan peppercorns. Then, quickly stir-fry the Kidney flowers, green onions, ginger, and garlic until they are scattered. Immediately pour the seasoning sauce along the edge of the wok, stir-fry evenly, and then toss and remove from the wok.

6.Walnut Duck

[Indications] Lumbar pain, impotence, dry and hard stool, Kidney deficiency with stone lithiasis, and other signs of imbalance.

[Formula] 200 grams of walnut kernels, 150 grams of water chestnuts, 1 old duck, 100 grams of chicken paste, appropriate amounts of rape shoots末 (finely chopped rape shoots), scallions, ginger, salt, egg white, monosodium glutamate, cooking wine, wet cornstarch, and peanut oil.

[Preparation Method] Slaughter the old duck, remove its feathers, open its belly to remove the internal organs, wash it clean, scald it briefly with boiling water, and place it in a basin. Add green onions, ginger, salt, and a small amount of cooking wine, then steam it in a steamer until thoroughly cooked. Remove and let it cool. After that, remove the bones from the old duck and cut it into two pieces. Separately, prepare a paste by mixing minced chicken, egg white, cornstarch, monosodium glutamate, cooking wine, and salt. Chop the walnut kernels and water chestnuts, add them to the paste, and then pour the mixture over the meat inside the duck’s cavity. Place the duck in a pot and deep-fry it in clean warm oil until crispy. Remove and drain off the excess oil. Cut the duck into long strips with a knife, arrange them on a plate, and sprinkle some chopped rape leaves around the edges.
