11 Folk Remedies for Urinary Tract Infections and Hematuria

1.Sanzhi Decoction

[Functions] Clearing heat and eliminating dampness, cooling blood and stopping bleeding.

[Indications] Heat stranguria, scanty and painful urination with blood, hemospermia, and coital bleeding in women.

[Formula] Grape juice, lotus root juice, fresh rehmannia juice, and honey, 50 grams each.

[Preparation Method] Boil the three ingredients together with water, then mix in honey until well combined.

[Usage] Take one dose daily, divided into two administrations and taken before meals.

2.Portulacae oleraceae and Plantaginis herba decoction

[Functions] Inducing diuresis and relieving stranguria.

[Indications] Urinary tract infection, scanty and painful urination.

[Formula] Portulacae Oleraceae 60~120 g, Plantaginis Herba 60 g.

3.Plantago Seed Porridge

[Formula] 15 to 30 grams of Semen Plantaginis (Plantago seed), 100 grams of Nonglutinous millet.

[Preparation Method] Wrap Plantaginis Semen (Cheqianzi) in a cloth, decoct it in water to obtain the juice, then add polished round-grained rice to cook into porridge.

[Usage] It can be consumed for breakfast or as a snack.

4.Plantago Seed Leaf Porridge

[Functions] Clear heat and promote urination.

[Indications] Hematuria due to heat strangury, hemospermia, and pain in the penis.

[Formula] 500 grams of fresh Plantaginis Herba leaves, a handful of scallion whites, 100 grams of japonica rice, an appropriate amount of fermented soybean (Semen Sojae Preparatum), and a little refined salt.

[Preparation Method] Chop the plantain leaves and scallion greens, rinse the rice clean, add an appropriate amount of fermented black beans and a little refined salt, and cook until the rice is broken and turns into porridge with water.

[Usage] Consume on an empty stomach.

5.Neijin Pangguang Decoction

[Indications] Suitable for consumption by adolescents with spermatorrhea and enuresis due to Kidney qi deficiency and cold.

[Formula] Endothelium Corneum Gigeriae Galli 30 g, 1 fresh pig bladder, Fructus Alpiniae Oxyphyllae, Polygonum Multiflorum, Fructus Foeniculi 10 g each, Halite 10 g.

[Preparation Method] Clean the fresh pig bladder thoroughly, fill it with Alpiniae Oxyphyllae Fructus (Yizhi Ren), Polygoni Multiflori Radix (Shouwu), and Foeniculi Fructus (Xiaohuixiang), then tightly tie the opening with thread. Place it in a casserole along with Gallus Gallus Domesticus Endothelium Corneum (Jineijin), and simmer over a gentle flame until the bladder is cooked. Pour out the medicinal residue and add Natrii Sulfas (Daqingyan).

[Usage] Take the bladder in two divided doses on an empty stomach in the morning and evening, and drink the broth. Continue for 5 consecutive days.

6.Gancao Heidou Decoction

[Functions] Clearing heat and detoxifying.

[Indications] Yang hyperactivity syndrome caused by invasion of heat-toxin.

[Formula] 15 grams of Semen Sojae Preparatum (black soybean), 15 grams of Radix Glycyrrhizae (licorice root).

[Preparation Method] Decoct in water.

[Usage] One dose per day, taken in two divided doses.

7.Sugarcane and White Lotus Root Juice

[Preparation Method] Wash and peel the fresh sugarcane, chop it, and extract the juice using clean gauze. Then wash the white lotus root, remove the nodes, chop it, marinate it in the sugarcane juice for half a day, and strain the juice using clean gauze.

[Usage] Drink it up three times a day.

8.Freshwater snail steeped in wine

[Formula] One bowl of river snails (Bellamya quadrata), three bowls of white wine.

[Preparation Method] Wash the river snails, stir-fry them with their shells until cooked, pour white liquor into the pot with the river snails while hot, and then heat and boil until only one bowl of liquor remains.

[Usage] Consume the peach flesh and drink this wine. Take it 2 to 3 times consecutively.

9.Rehmannia Glutinosa Congee

[Functions] Nourish the Kidney, cool the blood, and promote urination.

[Indications] Painful and gritty hematuria, as well as hemospermia.

[Formula] 0.3 liters of fresh Rehmanniae Radix juice, 0.2 liters of honey, 60 grams of Nonglutinous rice, 0.3 liters of Plantaginis Semen leaf juice.

[Preparation Method] Rinse the rice thoroughly, place it in a pot, add water, and simmer until it forms a thick porridge. Then, mix in Rehmanniae Juice, Plantaginis Seminis Leaf Juice, and honey. Bring to a boil and cook for three boils.

[Usage] Take it in two divided doses with breakfast and dinner.

10.Chinese Cabbage and Garlic Stem Soup

[Indications] Dysuria with a sensation of obstruction, as well as painful ejaculation and lower abdominal distension and pain.

[Formula] 8 outer leaves of old Chinese cabbage, half a bunch of garlic scapes, 8 scallion roots, 50 grams of Sichuan peppercorns, 15 grams of salt.

[Preparation Method] Boil all the aforementioned herbs together in a basin of water, use the hot steam to foment and wash the testicles until sweating occurs, and the urine will pass naturally, leading to recovery.

11.Baitang Liuzhipi Decoction
