Badger Oil

Badger Oil is a traditional Chinese medicine. It is the fatty oil extracted from the Eurasian badger (Meles meles Linnaeus), a species of the genus Meles in the Mustelidae family. It has the effects of tonifying the middle burner and boosting qi, moisturizing the skin and promoting tissue regeneration, and detoxifying and reducing swelling.It is primarily used to treat deficiency of middle qi, uterine prolapse, anemia, gastric ulcers, hemiplegia, joint pain, chapped skin, hemorrhoids, malnutrition-related skin sores, scabies, alopecia, burns and scalds, and frostbite.

Indications

Deficiency of central qi, uterine prolapse, anemia, gastric ulcers, hemiplegia, joint pain, chapped skin, hemorrhoids, malnutrition-related skin sores, scabies, alopecia, burns and scalds, and frostbite.

Usage and Dosage

Internal use: Dissolve in a decoction, 5–15 g. External use: Apply topically.

Applications

Related Compatibility

1. For uterine prolapse: 3 qian of badger oil and 7 eggs. Bring the oil to a boil, add an appropriate amount of water, crack in the eggs, and consume while hot. Take once daily for a continuous course of treatment.

2. For hemiplegia: 1 jin of badger oil and 10 blocks of tofu. Deep-fry the tofu in badger oil until cooked. There is no limit on portion size; consume two to three times daily.

3. For burns and frostbite: Apply badger oil to the affected area.

4. For scabies and ringworm: Apply badger oil to the affected area and warm it gently over low heat, twice daily. (The formula above is from *Jilin Chinese Herbal Medicine*)
