Commentary
White ginseng (Bai-shen) acts as the chief herb; warm and sweet, slightly bitter in character, it travels through the Spleen, Lung, Heart, Kidney meridians, working chiefly to greatly tonifies yuan qi, restore collapse and generate fluids. Soy milk (Dou-jiang) joins as the supporting deputy. Sweet-neutral in property, it enters the Spleen, Stomach meridians and works to nourish yin and generate fluids. Without a separate harmonizing herb, the herbal tea formula balance is achieved through the mutual tempering of its active ingredients. The overall effect is to tonify qi and strengthen the spleen, while nourishing yin and the stomach, restoring balance within the yin deficiency and qi framework.
