Commentary
Yuzhu (Yu-zhu) acts as the chief herb. Sweet-neutral in property, it enters the Lung, Stomach meridians, and works to nourish yin, moisten dryness and generate fluids. Fushen (Fu-shen) takes the deputy (minister) role, sweet, bland-neutral in property, acting through the Heart, Spleen meridians to drain dampness and calm the spirit. Finally, millet (Xiao-mi) stands as the harmonizing envoy; its role is to tonify the kidney, harmonize the middle and clear heat and coordinate the herbs. The overall effect is to nourish yin and reduce internal heat, restoring balance within the yin deficiency and yin framework.
