Processing
Take 13 jin of finely ground, genuine sesame oil. Soak the above herbs in the oil for 7 days, then simmer in a copper pot until the herbs are completely dried out; strain out the residue. Return the oil to the pot and simmer until a drop of oil forms a bead when dropped into water. Remove any remaining herb particles, then add the orpiment.For every 1 jin of oil, add 8 liang of sifted orpiment as a standard. Once the preparation is complete, transfer it to a clay jar and stir with a locust wood stick until cool. Then add the following powders: 4 qian of dragon’s blood,frankincense (oil-free) and myrrh (oil-free), each 3 qian 3 fen; patchouli, 4 qian 5 fen. Grind these into a fine powder and stir until uniform. Then add the following ingredients: pearl and borneol, each 1 qian; agarwood (unroasted), 4 qian 7 fen; dangmenzi, 2 qian 1 fen; wood fragrance (unroasted) and colophony, each 5 qian 4 fen;sandalwood (unroasted) 6 qian, realgar 5 qian 5 fen; mix thoroughly, then add camphor 3 qian to complete the formula.
