Drug Formulation

2 liang of Huangming Gelatin (chopped, roasted), 1 liang of Aristolochia, 1 liang of licorice (roasted), 1 liang of Pinellia (soaked in ginger juice for 3 days), 1 liang of apricot kernels (with skin and tips removed), and half a liang of ginseng.

Instructions for Use

Take 1 daqian per dose with 1 zhan of water; adjust the decoction according to the specific condition, boiling it down to 7 fen. Take before bedtime or after meals. Decoction instructions follow. For heart-related cough with facial flushing or profuse sweating, add dried kudzu root and boil together; for liver-related cough with tearing eyes, add 1 black plum and3–4 grains of glutinous rice and decoct together; for spleen-related cough with loss of appetite or nausea occurring 1–2 hours after eating, add 3 slices of fresh ginger and decoct together; for stomach-related cough with vomiting of sour fluid, add clam powder and decoct together; for gallbladder-related cough, take half a qian of the medicine before bedtime, mixed with clear tea water;For lung cough with shortness of breath and rapid breathing, add mulberry bark and decoct together; for diaphragmatic cough with phlegm coughed up in round lumps, mix the medicine with fresh ginger juice and swallow;For a cough due to overwork, add powdered Qin Jiao and decoct together; for a cold-induced cough that worsens at dawn, add 3 cun of scallion white and decoct together; for a cough with uncontrollable, continuous hemoptysis, add powdered Angelica sinensis and jujubes and decoct together; for a sudden-onset cough with thick nasal discharge and sputum, add black plum and ginger and decoct together;For postpartum cough with pain in the back and ribs, add 3 cun of licorice and decoct together; for qi-type cough with abdominal pain and distension, add green tangerine peel (with the white pith removed) and decoct together;For a heat-induced cough that worsens at night, add 1 bi of honey and scallion whites and decoct together; for an asthmatic cough with a sound like a saw being dragged, add 2 pieces of Pinellia and decoct together; for a kidney-related cough with 2–3 intermittent coughs, add Astragalus and white malt sugar and decoct.
