Drug Formulation
Half a jin of cow’s ghee, 2 liang of beeswax, half a liang of realgar (ground), half a liang of cinnabar (ground), half a liang of Lepidium (stem and root removed), half a liang of Ligusticum, half a liang of Angelica dahurica, half a liang of Cimicifuga, 1 eel, 1 liang of apricot kernels (soaked in hot water, peeled, tips and double kernels removed, and stir-fried with wheat bran),1 liang of Gaoben (with stems and soil removed).

Processing
First, decoct the above herbs in a cauldron with clarified butter until boiling; immediately add the eel and simmer until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the eel, then add the remaining herbs. Wait until the apricot kernels turn reddish, strain through cotton to remove the dregs, and transfer to a porcelain vessel. Add powdered realgar and cinnabar, stirring continuously without stopping until the mixture cools and forms a paste.
