Drug Formulation
Honeysuckle vine (i.e., Lonicera japonica vine; harvested fresh; avoid contact with iron utensils; pounded into a paste) 5 liang.

For oral abscesses, back boils, “fish-mouth” sores, anal abscesses, and all types of unexplained swollen abscesses.
Instructions for Use
Add 1 liang of licorice to the above herbs; place all in an earthenware pot with 2 bowls of water. Simmer over low heat until reduced to 1 bowl, then add 1 bowl of ash-free liquor. Simmer for another ten or so boils, strain, and divide into 3 doses. Consume the entire dose within one day and night; for severe cases, take two doses per day. Treatment is complete when urination and defecation become unimpeded. Additionally, pick a handful of flowers and leaves from the vine, pound them into a paste, mix with a small amount of white liquor, and apply the mixture around the affected area, leaving a small opening in the center to allow gas to escape.
