Drug Formulation

Cinnabar 1 liang, realgar 1 liang (both finely ground and washed with water), croton seeds 70 (peeled), beeswax 10 jujube-sized pieces.

From *Ji Feng*, Volume 14.

Processing

First, melt the beeswax into a liquid; boil the croton seeds until they turn a charred color, then remove and discard the seeds. Next, add the two aforementioned ingredients and knead them thoroughly into a paste within the wax to form the pill. Use as needed.

Instructions for Use

For adults, take one pill the size of a pea; for children, one pill the size of a mung bean. For sudden diarrhea, take with freshly drawn water; for red-and-white dysentery, take with Coptis and Mugwort Decoction; for white dysentery, take with Mugwort Decoction; for red dysentery, take with Coptis Decoction. After preparing the pill, simply wrap it in gold leaf; even frail elderly individuals may take it. In severe cases, taking it a second time will bring immediate relief. Always take on an empty stomach.

Note

After taking the medicine, avoid hot foods for a short time.
