Drug Formulation

Rehmannia glutinosa (prepared): 8 liang (cut into chunks with a cleaver, simmered until soft in equal parts wine and water, mashed, then incorporated into the formula); Cornus officinalis flesh: 5 liang (mixed with wine, steamed, sun-dried, and stir-fried); Chinese yam: 6 liang (stir-fried until golden);Poria (Bai Fuling) 4 liang (mixed with human milk, sun-dried, then roasted), Huai Achyranthes (Niu Xi) 4 liang (mixed with lightly salted wine, sun-dried, then stir-fried), Thick Eucommia (Hou Du Zhong) 3 liang (mixed with lightly salted wine, sun-dried, then stir-fried), Deer Antler Velvet 1 set (select plump, purple, and lustrous specimens; remove hair and bone; saw into thick slices; cut into small squares; mix with clarified butter; stir-fry until light yellow and fluffy),Northern Schisandra berries 1 liang 2 qian (each flattened, mixed with honey and wine, steamed, sun-dried, and stir-fried), Processed Aconite root 1 liang 5 qian (sliced, lightly roasted over low heat until dry), Superior Cinnamon bark 1 liang 5 qian (coarse bark scraped off just before grinding; not exposed to fire; no fumes released).

Processing

Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder; mix with thoroughly mashed prepared Rehmannia root, then add refined honey and pound well to form pills.
