6 qian of Notopterygium root, 6 qian of Angelica pubescens,Gardenia 6 qian, Cinnamon Bark 6 qian, Scrophularia 6 qian, Rhubarb 6 qian, Angelica 6 qian, White Angelica 6 qian, Soapberry 6 qian, White Aconite 6 qian, Gallnut 6 qian, Red Peony 6 qian, Raw Rehmannia 6 qian, Prepared Rehmannia 6 qian, Fangfeng 6 qian, Trichosanthes Root 6 qian, Coptis 6 qian, Ligusticum 6 qian,6 qian of Mountain Taro, 6 qian of Forsythia, 6 qian of Red-toothed Euphorbia, 6 qian of Platycodon, 6 qian of Bletilla, 6 qian of White Polygonum, 6 qian of Sophora flavescens, 10 slices of Sichuan Tortoise Shell, 20 seeds of Gleditsia (shelled), 80 seeds of Trichosanthes (shelled), 40 almonds, 30 seeds of Croton (shelled), 4 liang of Human Hair,30 segments of locust tree branches (each about one cun long), 30 segments of willow branches (each about one cun long), and 30 segments of mulberry branches (each about one cun long).

Processing

2 jin 4 liang of sesame oil; soak for 3 days in spring and fall, 2 days in summer, and 5 days in winter; boil until charred black, remove the dregs, and boil again until a drop of oil forms a bead. For every 2 jin of oil, add 1 jin of fly cinnabar, 3 liang of colophony, 2 liang of beeswax,2 liang of tung oil. Simmer until the consistency is neither too thick nor too thin; once slightly cooled, add 6 qian each of frankincense and myrrh, and 3 qian each of dragon’s blood, asafoetida, child’s tea, hundred-herb ash, mercury oxide, and purslane ointment. Stir in the mulberry twigs until well blended.

Instructions for Use

Apply as a poultice. For boils, abscesses, back sores, and skin ulcers, warm the mixture over a fire until it is hand-warm, rub it over the affected area more than a hundred times, then apply; for lesions that have already discharged pus, rubbing is not necessary. For scabies and tinea, apply to the itchy area;For leprosy, roast the seeds of the Chinese toadnut over a fire until soft, grind into a paste, and apply to the swollen area; for unexplained swellings or toxic sores, apply to the affected area; for injuries from falls, blows, or cuts, apply to the affected area; for wind-phlegm obstruction, apply to the chest and rub with warm hands 100 times;For abdominal masses, grind the wood turtle seed into a paste and apply it over the medicated plaster; mix 1 liang of Pi Xiao, 5 qian of pigeon droppings, and 2 cloves of garlic until smooth, form a ring of flour around the edge of the plaster to secure it, and use an iron to gently heat the mixture until the medicinal properties permeate; for bloating caused by poisonous insects, add roasted wood turtle seed, apply the plaster below the heart and above the navel, and rub with warm hands 100 times;For paralysis or pain caused by dampness, add slow-roasted Euryale seed to the plaster and apply it to the affected area, rubbing it 100 times by hand; for irregular menstruation, apply the plaster to the Xuehai acupoint and rub it 100 times by hand.
