Drug Formulation

7 liang of locust tree twigs, 7 liang of willow twigs, 7 liang of mulberry twigs (roasted until dry), 7 liang of hemp seeds (select the central part from one seed), 5 liang of late silkworm sand, and 3.5 liang of rock salt.

Processing

Grind all the ingredients, except for the silkworm sand and rock salt, into pieces the size of sesame seeds.Take one jar of salt-mud paste, dry it in the sun, then place all the herbs inside. Leave the jar open and place it in a pit in the ground, surrounded on all sides by charcoal. Burn the herbs until they glow red, stirring them occasionally with willow twigs to ensure even heating. Once the smoke has cleared, remove the charcoal and cover the jar’s opening with 3–5 layers of damp paper. Wait until it cools, then remove the herbs, grind them into a powder, and store in a porcelain box.
