Drug Formulation
7 qian of black lead, 1 liang of mercury, 2 qian of earth sulfur.

Processing
First, melt the black lead; add the mercury, allow to cool and solidify, then grind to a fine powder. Combine this with the powdered earth sulfur in a pot and stir-fry slowly until it turns a bluish-green color; do not add too much sulfur. For external use, take 1 liang of alum, 9 qian of fire-calcined alum, and 8 fen of soapstone alum,7 qian of table salt. Grind these together, then stir-fry in a pot until dry and reddish. Remove and grind together with the above ingredients until a bluish-green color appears. Place in a jar, seal securely as described, and apply heat in three wen and one wu increments; use a wu-level flame to heat the bowl for four incense sticks’ worth of time. Allow to cool and solidify before removing; the residue adhering to the bowl should be the color of a crane’s crown. Alternatively, grind the raw herbs into a powder, stir-fry until dry, then grind together with the other ingredients, place in a jar, and follow the previous heating regimen—this yields even better results.

Instructions for Use
For internal conditions, take 1–2 fen per dose; for external toxins causing tissue necrosis, apply a paste of approximately 1 li per application.
