Drug Formulation

1 liang of Angelica sinensis, 1 liang of Dehuo, 1 liang of Safflower, 1 liang of Qianghuo, 1 liang of Qin Jiao, 1 liang of Pangolin Scale (roasted), 1 liang of Dipsacus asper, 1 liang of Silkworm (raw), 1 liang of Achyranthes root, 1 liang of Corydalis, 1 liang of Curcuma chuanxiong, 1 liang of Cyperus rotundus, 1 liang of Atractylodes lancea, 1 liang of Eucommia ulmoides, 1 liang of Aconite (processed with ginger juice),Caowu (processed with ginger juice) 1 liang, Ephedra (roots and nodes removed, stir-fried) 1 liang, processed frankincense 1 liang, processed myrrh 1 liang, whole scorpion 1 liang, Dipsacus asper (hairs removed, stir-fried) 4 liang, centipede 10 pieces (roasted),5 qian of toad venom (dissolved in wine and mixed with the herbs; grind all into a fine powder), 1.5 jin of sarsaparilla (soaked in a decoction of ephedra and mung beans until thoroughly saturated; remove the skin and core; fry in sesame oil until deep yellow; remove; mix with soil, roast, sift, and remove the oil; grind separately into a powder).

Processing

Mix equal parts of the prepared Trichosanthes root powder and the aforementioned herbal powders, and form into pills with water.

Instructions for Use

Take 8 fen per dose; those with weak constitutions should take 5–6 fen. Take with warm, aged wine before bedtime. Induce sweating and avoid drafts. If exposed to wind and numbness occurs, ginger soup or warm wine can relieve the symptoms. Take another dose every 1–2 days.

Note

This formula is contraindicated for conditions involving redness and swelling caused by abscesses, as well as for pregnant women.
