11 TCM Herbal Recipes for Female Infertility and Amenorrhea

1.Shuizhi Powder

[Functions] Promoting blood circulation to remove blood stasis and regulating menstruation.

[Indications] Amenorrhea in adolescent women, infertility due to stagnation of blood stasis.

[Formula] 30 grams of Hirudo (leech), 250 grams of Rhizoma Dioscoreae (fresh Chinese yam), and an appropriate amount of brown sugar.

[Preparation Method] Grind leech into powder and yam into fine powder. Each time, use 20 grams of yam powder, mix it evenly with cold water to cook porridge, add brown sugar and it is ready to serve.

[Usage] Take 1-2 grams of leech powder with thin porridge twice a day.

2.Chinese Rose Decoction

[Source] Quanzhou Materia Medica

[Functions] Soothes the Liver and regulates qi, unblocks the meridians and helps with occasional pain.

[Indications] Amenorrhea due to Qi Stagnation and blood stasis, with signs of imbalance such as mental depression, irritability and chest oppression, aversion to sexual activity, etc.

[Formula] Five Chinese rose flowers, an appropriate amount of rock candy and yellow rice wine.

[Preparation Method] Wash the Chinese rose flowers and place them in a casserole, add 150 milliliters of water, simmer over a gentle flame until 100 milliliters remain, strain out the dregs, add rock sugar and yellow rice wine, and it is ready to be served.

[Usage] Take once a day, warm.

3.White Pigeon Stewed in Wine

[Functions] Promotes blood circulation to remove blood stasis and nourishes the body.

[Indications] Dry blood consumption in women, with dark and sallow complexion, rough skin, emaciation of the body, bone-steaming tidal fever, night sweats with red cheeks, as well as scanty and obstructed menstruation, even amenorrhea, and inability to conceive.

[Formula] 1 white pigeon (plucked, cleaned, and eviscerated), 30 grams of Resina Draconis (dragon’s blood).

[Preparation Method] Place Dragon’s Blood (Resina Draconis) into the abdomen of a white pigeon, sew it up with a needle and thread, and boil it in 1000 milliliters of high-quality wine until thoroughly cooked. Remove and let it cool to a warm temperature for later use.

[Usage] Consume the pigeon meat in two portions and slowly drink up the wine.

[Annotations] For patients with a wellness duration of 1 year, use 30 grams of Dragon’s Blood (Sanguis Draxonis) in the formula; for 2 years, use 60 grams; for 3 years, use 90 grams.

4.Oolong tea

[Indications] Accumulation of phlegm-dampness, obesity of constitutional origin leading to infertility.

[Formula] 3g oolong tea, 18g sophora japonica fruit, 30g polygonum multiflorum, 18g white gourd peel, 15g hawthorn flesh.

[Preparation Method] First, decoct the five ingredients including Fructus Sophorae together, remove the dregs, and use the decoction to brew black tea infusion.

[Usage] Use as a tea substitute for drinking.

5.Danggui Yuanhu Wine

[Functions] Activates blood circulation and removes blood stasis.

[Indications] Irregular menstruation, dysmenorrhea, abdominal distension and pain, prolonged infertility.

[Formula] Dang Gui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis) 15g, Yuan Hu (Rhizoma Corydalis) 15g, Zhi Mo Yao (Processed Myrrha) 15g, Hong Hua (Flos Carthami) 15g.

[Preparation Method] Crush the above four ingredients together, wrap them in white cloth, and soak them in 1000 milliliters of white liquor in a clean container. Use after 7 days.

[Usage] Take one cup (approximately 20 milliliters) of warm decoction on an empty stomach every morning and evening.

6.Safflower Wine

7.Pork lean meat boiled with peach tree root

Add scallions, ginger, and salt, then pour an appropriate amount of water. Bring the casserole to a boil over high heat, and then simmer over low heat until the meat is thoroughly cooked.

8.Taoren Lian’ou Decoction

[Formula] Prunus persica (L.) Batsch seed 10 g, Nelumbo nucifera Gaertn. rhizome 250 g.

[Preparation Method] Peel and crush the peach kernels, wash and slice the white lotus root, then boil them together to make a soup. Add an appropriate amount of brown sugar and wait to serve.

[Usage] Once a day, eat the lotus root and drink the soup.

9.Sangshen Decoction

[Indications] Amenorrhea in women, prolonged infertility.

[Formula] 25 grams of Fructus Mori (Mulberry Fruit), 5 grams of Flos Carthami (Safflower), 20 grams of Caulis Spatholobi (Suberect Spatholobus Stem), an appropriate amount of yellow rice wine.

[Preparation Method] Boil the above three ingredients together with yellow rice wine and water to make a decoction.

[Usage] Take once each in the morning and evening, warmly administered before meals.

10.Motherwort and Brown Sugar Tea

[Formula] Leonuri Herba (Yìmǔcǎo) 60 grams, Brown Sugar 50 grams.

[Preparation Method] Decoct Leonurus japonicus Houtt. to make 200 ml of decoction, add brown sugar and dissolve it for later use.

[Usage] Take it as a decoction instead of tea.

11.Heidou Honghua Decoction

[Indications] Amenorrhea in women caused by blood stasis and blockage, accompanied by intermittent cold pain and distension in the lower abdomen, as well as prolonged infertility.

[Formula] 30 g of Semen Sojae Preparatum (Heidou), 6 g of Flos Carthami (Honghua), 30-60 g of Brown Sugar.

[Preparation Method] First, boil black soybeans and Carthami Flos in water until the beans are cooked. Then, remove the dregs, clarify the liquid, and mix with brown sugar for drinking.

[Usage] Take twice daily, in the morning and evening.

  3. Toller Artikel! Ich finde es spannend, wie TCM ganzheitlich bei weiblicher Unfruchtbarkeit hilft – Blutstase als Ursache wird oft übersehen. Das Shuizhi-Pulver klingt vielversprechend, aber die Kombination mit Blutegel ist schon intensiv. Hat jemand Erfahrung damit oder mit alternativen Rezepten? Danke für die Zusammenstellung!
