250 grams of reed root, 250 grams of water chestnuts, 250 grams of snow pears, and 250 grams of lotus root.Main Ingredients
How To Make
Wash the reed root, water chestnuts, snow pears, and lotus root separately. Cut the reed root into small pieces, remove the nodes from the lotus root, and remove the stems from the snow pears. Cut all ingredients into thin slices, small pieces, or small cubes. Mix them thoroughly, add an appropriate amount of warm water, and mash to extract the juice.Soak the pulp left after extracting the juice in an appropriate amount of warm water for 30 minutes, then extract the juice once more. Combine the two strained juices and mix thoroughly to complete the preparation.

Reed root (Lu-gen) holds the chief position in this formula. Sweet-cold in property, its action follows the Lung, Stomach meridians, and works to clear heat, generate fluids and promote urination. Water chestnuts (Bi-qi) stand in the deputy (minister) seat; cold and sweet in character, it travels through the Lung, Stomach, Large Intestine meridians to clear heat, generate fluids and transforms phlegm. Snow pears add further support, working to moisten the lung and clear heat. Additionally, lotus root (Ou) takes an assisting (adjuvant) role, working to clear heat, generate fluids, cool blood and activate blood. No dedicated envoy herb appears in this recipe, the actions being balanced among the active ingredients themselves. Collectively, the combination moisten the lungs, clear dryness, quenches thirst, promote saliva production, addressing the yin deficiency and phlegm pattern.
