Commentary
Fresh Agastache assumes the leading (chief) role, providing the main thrust of the formula. Fresh Eupatorium (Pei-lan) stands in the deputy (minister) seat. Pungent-neutral in property, it enters the Spleen, Stomach, Lung meridians and works to resolve dampness, refresh the spleen and open the stomach. Without a separate harmonizing herb, the herbal tea formula balance is achieved through the mutual tempering of its active ingredients. In sum, the prescription dispel wind and transforms dampness, unblock the meridians and relieve pain, aimed squarely at the migraine pattern rather than at isolated symptoms.
