Drug Formulation

Rehmannia glutinosa (prepared) 1 jin (use 8 liang to decoct in water; strain out the residue; return the 8 liang to the decoction and simmer until soft; mash and incorporate into the formula), Chinese yam 4 liang (stir-fried until slightly yellow), Moutan bark 4 liang (roasted), Poria cocos 3 liang (mixed thoroughly with milk, sun-dried, then roasted),Cornus officinalis (pitted) 4 liang (tossed with wine, steamed, sun-dried, and roasted), Alisma orientale 2 liang (tossed with lightly salted water, sun-dried, and stir-fried), Schisandra chinensis 2 liang (each fruit sliced into two pieces with a copper knife, tossed with honey and wine, steamed, sun-dried, and thoroughly roasted),Achyranthes root 3 liang (tossed with lightly salted wine and stir-fried), Cinnamon bark (select the innermost layer, which is oily, moist, and extremely sweet) 1 liang 5 qian (add directly to the formula; do not release the fumes or expose to direct heat), Processed Aconite root 1 liang 5 qian (sliced thinly, lightly roasted over low heat).

Processing

Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Mash prepared Rehmannia root until pulpy and mix it into the powder. Add refined honey and pound well. Form into pills with the help of several people, dry in the sun, and store in a porcelain jar.
