Commentary
Qingpi (Qing-pi) holds the chief position in this formula. Bitter, pungent-warm in property, its action follows the Liver, Gallbladder, Stomach meridians, and works to soothe the liver, break qi and dissipate stagnation. Raw hawthorn joins as the supporting deputy.
