Drug Formulation

5-fold gallnut 4 liang, Acorus tatarinowii 2 liang, rock salt 1 liang, raw dried rehmannia 2 liang, sophora root 2 liang, Aconitum carmichaeli 0.5 liang, fresh ginger 3 liang.

Processing

First, pound the gallnuts, aconite, and kudzu root into a coarse powder. Then add the ginger and pound until a paste forms. Shape the mixture into five balls, place them in a earthenware box or small sand pot, cover the opening with a round piece of earthenware, leaving a small hole to allow black smoke to escape.Seal the container with a layer of salt mud one finger thick, then calcine it over a fire. When the black smoke is nearly gone, remove it from the heat and cover it with raw earth. The next day, remove it and grind it together with the previous medicine until fine.
