Drug Formulation

1 liang of Tiannanxing, 1 liang of Banxia, 5 qian of Cao Wu (calcined to preserve its nature).

Source

From Hu Gong’s Porridge Formula, cited in Volume 18 of *The Comprehensive Treatise on the Treatment of Ulcers*.

Processing

Decoct the ingredients into a concentrated decoction, strain out the residue, and add 1–2 liang of the white sap from the calyx of the wood lotus. When harvesting, scrape the sap from the calyx using a clam shell. Stir well. Next, roast quicklime with a bamboo strip until the strip turns charred black; then slowly add the mixture, stirring to form a paste that is neither too thin nor too thick. Store in a porcelain jar and seal with beeswax.

Instructions for Use

When using, if the paste has dried, moisten it with saliva to soften and apply it to the tumor; alternatively, applying it moistened with the sap from the wood lotus pod is even more effective. It will heal within 2–3 days.
