Drug Formulation

Angelica sinensis (sliced, roasted) 1 liang, Aconite (peeled, navel removed) 1 liang, Ligusticum chuanxiong 1 liang, Saposhnikovia divaricata (branches removed) 1 liang, Cynanchum atratum 1 liang, Cimicifuga heracleifolia 1 liang, Asarum sieboldii (stems and leaves removed) 1 liang, Platycladus orientalis 1 liang, Smilax glabra 1 liang,Peach Kernel (peeled) half liang, Licorice half liang, White Mulberry Root Bark half liang, Weeping Willow Twig half liang, Bletilla half liang, Astragalus half liang, White Angelica half liang, White Silkworm Larva half liang, Lead丹 (ground) 5 liang,realgar (ground) half liang, musk (ground) half liang, sulfur (ground) half liang, apricot kernels (skinned) 3 fen, cinnabar (ground) 1 fen.

Processing

Coarsely crush the ingredients. Soak them in 2 jin of sesame oil in a new porcelain vessel overnight. The next day, transfer the mixture to a cauldron and simmer over alternating high and low heat until the consistency is just right. Filter through cotton to remove the residue. Add the realgar, lead丹, cinnabar, musk, and sulfur, and simmer again. After a short while, turn off the heat,then add 4 liang of beeswax. Once the mixture has set slightly, pour it into a hot porcelain vessel to store it, taking care to keep it free from dust and contamination.

Instructions for Use

For back abscesses, mix 2 spoons with wine; take 2 doses daily. For external application, apply as a poultice and change it every 2 days. For scrofula, fistulas, carbuncles, angioedema, psoriasis, lactation eczema, tinea cruris, hair loss at the temples, scalp sores, teething, and snake or insect bites, apply the poultice accordingly;For fractures and injuries to tendons and bones, take half a spoonful with wine; for arrows lodged in the bone, apply the poultice and the arrow will emerge on its own; for a blocked throat, hold it in the mouth to clear the passage immediately; for difficult childbirth and stillbirth, dissolve half a liang in wine and take it; for blood and qi surging to the heart, boil fresh ginger juice with urine, then dissolve one spoonful in warm wine and take it; for all types of malignant sores that have not healed for several years, wash the area first with salt water, then apply the poultice.
