Drug Formulation

1 liang of Angelica sinensis, 100 apricot kernels (soaked in hot water, with skins and tips removed), 6 liang of orpiment, 20 handfuls of willow twigs, 20 handfuls of peach twigs, 2 pieces of human hair (each the size of a chicken egg), and 22 liang of vegetable oil.

Processing

Except for the yellow丹, place all ingredients in a pot and simmer over low heat for two hours. Strain through cheesecloth to remove the dregs, then return to the pot and simmer until a drop of the mixture forms a bead that does not disperse. Add the yellow丹 and simmer over alternating high and low heat until it becomes a black ointment.
