Processing

Finely chop all the above herbs, place them in oil, and simmer over alternating low and high heat. When the Angelica dahurica turns purple, remove from heat, strain out the residue, and use 3 jin of realgar (previously rinsed with water and heated) along with 1 liang of musk (sifted). Gradually add these to the simmering herbal oil as it comes to a boil. Test the consistency by dripping a small amount into water; it should be soft yet firm and not sticky to the touch.

For boils, back abscesses, carbuncles, and large and small furuncles.

Instructions for Use

For boils of all sizes that have appeared within 1–2 days, cut oil paper to fit the size of the sore and apply it evenly. Do not remove it; leave it in place until the sore has subsided, then remove it.
