Formulas Name : Decoction Pills with Gardenia Bark
Chinese Name : 海桐皮煎丸
Drug Formulation
Half a jin of sea-tung bark, half a jin of achyranthes root (stems removed; both herbs finely chopped). Decoct in 1 dou of water in a large pot until reduced to 1 sheng; grind to a paste in a sand mortar and strain to extract the concentrated juice.Transfer the mixture to a silver pot, gradually add 3 sheng of wine, and simmer until it becomes a paste), 2 liang of Aconite Root (roasted until cracked, with skin and pith removed), 1 liang of Sichuan Aconite (roasted until cracked, with skin and pith removed), 4 liang of Tiger Tibia (coated with butter and roasted until yellow), 3 liang of Sichuan Rhubarb (finely chopped, lightly roasted),2 liang of peach kernels (soaked in hot water, with skin, tips, and double kernels removed, then stir-fried with wheat bran until slightly yellow), 1 liang of Acanthopanax bark, 1 liang of red peony root, 1 liang of cinnamon bark (with wrinkled outer bark removed), 1 liang of ephedra (with roots and nodes removed), 1 liang of angelica root, 1 liang of red arrowroot,Earthworm 1 liang (lightly roasted), Frankincense 1 liang, Angelica pubescens 1 liang, Myrrh 1 liang, Saposhnikovia root 1 liang (with the root tip removed), Dipsacus root 1 liang, Frankincense 1 liang, Dragon’s Blood 1 liang, Dried Scorpion 1 liang (lightly roasted), Aconite 1 liang (roasted until cracked), Musk half a liang (finely ground).

Processing
Grind the above ingredients into a powder, add musk, and grind thoroughly until uniform. Mix with the preceding paste to form pills the size of a paulownia seed.

Instructions for Use
Take 20 pills at a time, washed down with warm wine, at any time of day.
