Benefits

For fractures and internal injuries accompanied by blood stasis, with pain occurring daily during the lunar night. Also treats various postpartum disorders in women.

Instructions for Use

Sort the herb, remove all weeds and dry leaves, wash thoroughly with fresh water, spread out on a bamboo mat to dry until all moisture is gone, then snap the stems by hand into pieces about 5 cun long; do not cut with a knife;immediately place it in a cauldron with two shi of water, ensuring the water level is 2–3 cun above the herb. Then light the fire and simmer until the motherwort has disintegrated and the water has reduced by two-thirds. Strain out the herb, retaining 5–6 dou of the liquid,Pour it into a basin and let it settle for half a day; then filter the clear liquid through cotton, discarding all sediment and dregs from the basin. Simmer the clear liquid in a small cauldron over low heat until it reduces to 1 dou, resembling thin syrup. Take a portion about the size of a pear for each dose, mix it with warm wine, and consume it twice daily.It may also be eaten with soup or congee. If traveling and unable to carry the thin decoction, boil it further until thick and firm, then shape it into small pills for ingestion. Pain will gradually subside within 7 days, and full recovery will occur within 14 days. For postpartum women with persistent lochia or uterine bleeding, a single dose of 1 liang will cure the condition.
