Drug Formulation

5 qian of Angelica sinensis root, 2 qian of rhubarb, 2 qian of Schizonepeta tenuifolia, 2 qian of Platycodon grandiflorus, 2 qian of frankincense (roasted), 2 qian of myrrh (roasted), 3 qian of Scutellaria baicalensis, 3 qian of Forsythia suspensa, 2.5 qian of Saposhnikovia divaricata, 2.5 qian of Notopterygium incisum, 1 qian of whole scorpion,20 cicada slugs (heads removed), 25 stiff silkworms, 1 liang of oxhide glue (roasted with earth), 7 fen of realgar, 4 golden-headed centipedes (heads and legs removed; prepared in four different ways: 1 smeared with ginger juice and baked dry; 1 smeared with sesame oil and baked dry; 1 smeared with vinegar and baked dry;1 treated with clarified butter and roasted), 4 liang of Pangolin Scale (also prepared in 4 ways: 1 liang boiled in a decoction of 5 qian of safflower, then baked dry; 1 liang boiled in a decoction of 5 qian of soapwort, then baked dry; 1 liang boiled in a decoction of 5 qian of lithospermum root, then baked dry; 1 liang boiled in a decoction of 5 qian of sappanwood, then baked dry).

Processing

Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder; mix with genuine rice vinegar to form a paste and shape into pills, each weighing 1 qian 2 fen; coat each pill with 1 qian 5 fen of cinnabar; store in a porcelain jar, placing 5 fen of musk inside the jar to preserve them.
