Drug Formulation
3 qian of Angelica dahurica, 3 qian of Angelica sinensis, 3 qian of Paeonia rubra, 3 qian of Rehmannia glutinosa, 3 qian of earthworms, 3 qian of Manis pentadactyla, 3 qian of dragon’s blood, 3 qian of Saposhnikovia divaricata, 3 qian of Rheum palmatum, 3 qian of Scrophularia ningpoensis, 3 qian of Sophora flavescens,3 qian of Gaoben, 3 qian of Cangzhu, half a liang of Aconite root tip, 10 strips of Soapwort, half a liang of Double-pointed Soapwort (if unavailable, substitute with Aconite root), 2 qian of Pinellia tuber, 15 pieces of Trichosanthes fruit, 150 castor seeds (shelled), 1 liang of Frankincense, 1 liang of Myrrh (each ground separately; do not soak in oil),2 qian of bee hives, 2 bunches of raw scallions, half a liang of peach twigs, half a liang of willow twigs, half a liang of locust twigs.

Processing
Soak the above ingredients in 5 liang of tung oil for three to two hours. In a pot, slowly simmer over low-to-medium heat until the castor seeds turn charred,and the Sichuan mountain tortoise shell and scallion whites turn golden brown. Strain through a cloth to remove the residue; set the medicinal oil aside. Add rosin to the pot and bring to a boil; add the medicinal ingredients and simmer until dissolved. Strain again through a cloth to remove the residue. Simmer the medicinal oil and rosin together, stirring thoroughly with the peach and willow twigs until the mixture does not disperse when dropped into water. If the mixture is too thick, add a small amount of oil;if the mixture is too runny, add more rosin; then add milk and mastic powder, stirring until uniform; filter again through a cloth into a basin of water; allow to cool, then rinse with water until the liquid runs clear.
