Drug Formulation

1 liang of Angelica sinensis, 1 liang of Dipsacus asper, 1 liang of Dipsacus asper (bone-mending herb), 1 liang of Cinnamomum cassia (with coarse bark removed), 1 liang of Aconite root, 1 liang of Alisma orientale, 1 liang of Paeonia lactiflora, 1 liang of Bletilla striata, 1 liang of Achyranthes bidentata,Qianghuo 1 liang, Chuanxiong 1 liang, MuXiang 1 liang, Qilin Jie 1 liang, Raw Rehmannia 1 liang, White Silkworm 1 liang, White Aconite 1 liang, Agarwood half a liang, Cloves half a liang, Trichosanthes 2 pieces (large), Black Snake Meat 1 liang, White Lian 1 liang, White Angelica 1 liang,1 liang of Scrophularia (all 23 ingredients pounded and sifted together), 3 fen of apricot kernels (skinned and finely ground), 3 fen of peach kernels (skinned and finely ground).

Processing

Add 4 jin of sesame oil, 1.5 jin of lard, and 3 liang of wild camel fat to the above ingredients. Simmer in a double-boiler until blackened, then strain out the residue. Add 3 liang of powdered frankincense and 6 liang of pine resin, and simmer until melted. Filter out the residue, then sift in 3 jin of lead丹. Roast the lead丹 separately until it turns purple; remove from heat. When a drop of water forms a bead upon contact, immediately pour the mixture into a porcelain container.
