Drug Formulation

Chrysanthemum 1 liang, Ligusticum 1 liang, Licorice (roasted) 1 liang,1 liang of Fangfeng, 1 liang of Huangqin, 1 liang of Daji, 4 liang of Shidi Huang, 1.5 liang of Shaoyao, 0.5 liang of Xixin, 0.5 liang of Da Huang, 0.5 liang of Shu Jiao (with seeds removed, closed ends, and sweat), 0.5 liang of Duzhong, 0.5 liang of Huangqi, 1 liang of Bai Zhi (one formula adds 2 liang of Ganju).

Processing

Coarsely crush the ingredients. Simmer in 4 sheng of pork lard from the 12th lunar month over low heat for about five cycles; add Angelica dahurica when the mixture turns yellow to form a paste.
