Drug Formulation

Toad Venom (dissolved in wine) 1 qian, Realgar 1 qian, Mercury Oxide 1 qian, White Clove 1 qian, Centipede 1 (roasted), Realgar 2 qian, Cinnabar 2 qian, Frankincense 6 fen,1 character of musk, 5 fen of golden-topped arsenic (prepare by melting 1 jin of lead over charcoal fire in a small pot; add 2 liang of white arsenic to the molten lead and refine until the smoke has completely dissipated; remove, allow to cool and solidify, then break open; the golden-topped arsenic will have crystallized on the surface of the lead; scrape it off for use).

Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder and shape into pellets the size of a wheat grain.

Instructions for Use

Whenever a carbuncle is lanced, insert one of these pellets into the opening and cover it with ointment. It is effective for drawing out pus, blood, and the root of the carbuncle.
