Processing

Use a total of 24 jin of oil for the above ingredients, and simmer in batches until the elixir is formed. Then add 1 liang each of realgar, calcined alum, cassia bark, cloves, frankincense, agarwood, myrrh, cardamom, and mercury oxide, as well as 4 liang of bovine glue (steamed with wine until dissolved. After the elixir has set, stir until lukewarm; test with one drop—if it does not burst, then add it.Stir for over 1,000 times to ensure uniformity; the more times, the better. Do not stir until the mixture forms beads, as this weakens the formula and prevents it from adhering properly.
