Drug Formulation
1 liang of white wax, 2 liang of yellow丹,2 liang of earthworm castings from chive beds (roasted until dry to 1 liang 5 qian), 5 fen of borneol, 3 qian of camphor, 5 fen of musk, 5 qian of dragon’s blood, 1 liang of lead powder, 3 qian of roasted colophony, 3 qian of frankincense (oil removed), 3 qian of myrrh, 2 fen of verdigris, 1 qian of mercuric oxide, and 3 qian of catechu.

Grind each of the above ingredients into an extremely fine powder.

Instructions for Use
First, wash the area gently with warm scallion broth. While the skin is still damp from the broth, apply the powder mixture directly to the sores. The itching will be unbearable, but do not scratch it with your hands. After a short while, a yellowish fluid will ooze out—as much as several bowls of golden liquid. Wash the area again with scallion broth, then apply the powder mixture once more; repeat this process of oozing and applying the powder three times. Gradually, the discharge will decrease and the pain will subside.The next day, prepare a fresh local herbal ointment: spread the ointment on a thick piece of leather, mix in 2 qian of this powdered medicine, and apply it to the affected area, allowing the fluid to drain freely. If the itching becomes extreme, gently brush the area with a crane’s feather to relieve it; applying two layers of this ointment will stop the discharge and bring about a cure.
