Drug Formulation

1 set of elk antlers (soak in clean water for 3 days; scrape off the coarse skin; grind into powder; place in a porcelain jar—a silver jar is even better; soak in cow’s milk for 1 day; as the milk evaporates, add more until no further evaporation occurs, ensuring the milk level remains 2 fingers deep above the antler powder;Use barley—the amount depends on the size of the jar—and place it in a clay pot as needed, forming a layer about 3 cun thick. Place the jar on top, then fill the space around it with barley until it is tightly packed, leaving only the jar’s mouth exposed. Steam over indirect heat for one fu. As the water in the pot evaporates, replenish it with hot water until the antler powder is steamed to a fine, flour-like consistency. Then remove from heat, take out, and grind finely. Set aside for use with the following ingredients: Dragon Bone 2 liang,2 liang of Chinese yam, 2 liang of ginseng (with the root tip removed), 2 liang of polygala (with the core removed),Cornus officinalis 2 liang, Acorus tatarinowii 2 liang, Cinnabar 2 liang, Cinnabar (ground separately) 2 liang, Schisandra chinensis 2 liang, Whole scorpion (stir-fried with mugwort leaves to remove toxicity) 2 liang, Morinda officinalis (with core removed) 3 liang, Aconite root (roasted, 3 liang; peel and navel removed) 3 liang, Psoralea corylifolia (stir-fried) 3 liang,Dodder Seed (soaked in wine overnight, then baked) 3 liang, Aconite Root (roasted, with skin and pith removed) 3 liang, Cypress Seed (ground separately) 4 liang, Prepared Rehmannia Root (washed, then baked) 4 liang, Cistanche (soaked in wine overnight, sliced, then baked) 4 liang.
