Processing

Coarsely crush the ingredients, mix them with 10 jin of genuine sesame oil, and steep for 7 days. Then simmer in a pot until the herbal residue turns to charcoal and the blood residue has completely dissolved. Filter out the residue, then continue simmering until a drop of the liquid forms a bead when placed in water. Gradually add realgar to thicken the mixture into a paste. Finally, add the following ingredients:Frankincense, dragon’s blood, asafoetida, dragon bone, bismuth subchloride, realgar, mercury oxide, myrrh, and catechu—each 5 qian; camphor 4 qian; cinnabar 7 qian; agarwood and wood fragrant—each 3 qian; musk 1 qian; borneol 3 fen. Grind the above ingredients into an extremely fine powder, mix thoroughly into the ointment, and store in a porcelain bowl to neutralize the heat toxicity.
