Drug Formulation
1 skullcap (use those from males—if not red in color; do not use those from females—if red in color.Decoct with sandalwood to make a decoction; let it cool and wash the skull with it, then roast it with butter until golden yellow), 1 raw softshell turtle shell (remove the skirt, roast with vinegar until golden yellow), 2 tiger fangs (roast with vinegar and butter; if unavailable, use half liang of mandibular bone), half liang of benzoin, half liang of chicken heart and areca nut,peach kernels (soaked in water, skinned, and roasted) half liang, raw rhinoceros horn 3 qian, wood fragrant 3 qian, Euphorbia 3 qian, Aquilaria 3 qian, dried lacquer (pounded, stir-fried until smoke subsides but properties remain) 3 qian, asafoetida (soaked in wine, ground) 3 qian, four claws of pangolin (roasted with vinegar until charred), thunder seed 2 qian,3 whole scorpions, 10 earthworms (ground raw and mixed with the other ingredients).

Instructions for Use
Take half a liang per dose. First, take 49 soybean hearts, 2 small shoots each of peach, plum, mulberry, and apricot (all facing east), each 7 cun long, 7 fresh indigo leaves, a small handful of Artemisia annua, and 5 slices of scallion white (with roots, washed),pound them together in a stone mortar with a pestle; decoct with one and a half bowls of well water until reduced to one zhan; add one zhan of a child’s urine along with the powdered medicine; decoct until reduced to seven fen; add one zi of musk; take warm on an empty stomach at the fifth watch during the first ten days of the lunar month. Immediately cover oneself with a quilt to induce sweating.
