Drug Formulation

2 liang of Chuanxiong, 2 liang of Danggui, 2 liang of Bai Shao (fire-roasted), 8 qian of Perilla (stems removed), 6 qian of Ginseng, 2 liang of Amomum,Sichuan pepper 2 liang (grind half into powder), mugwort leaves 2 liang (roasted with vinegar, then dried), cyperus rhizome (soaked in wine), Atractylodes macrocephala 2 liang (stir-fried with wheat bran), tangerine peel 2 liang (white pith removed), prepared rehmannia root 2 liang (soaked in wine, then pounded into a paste), dried ginger 5 qian (stir-fried), schisandra berries 3 qian (stems removed).

Processing

Take 1 jin 8 liang of yellow-skinned turtle meat; soak in hot water to remove the skin, leaving the claws intact. Add one bowl each of high-quality rice wine and strong liquor, and simmer until it becomes as soft as mud. Dry thoroughly, then grind into a powder along with the aforementioned herbs. Boil red dates until soft, add fresh ginger, and simmer together. Remove the skins and pits, discard the ginger, and pound the remaining mixture into a paste. Mix this paste with the prepared rehmannia paste to form pills the size of a tung tree seed.
