Formulas Name : Wan’an Powder

Chinese Name : 万安散

Drug Formulation

7 whole scorpions (soaked in ginger juice), half a qian of cinnabar, 1 qian of ephedra (thin and straight, soaked in ginger juice), 7 fresh peppermint leaves (wrap the scorpions in them, tie with ephedra, and roast until golden brown using chopsticks; if unavailable, use dried leaves soaked in ginger juice until softened), 2 qian of magnolia bark (processed with ginger), and 1 qian of white atractylodes (simmered in 7 fen of water in a silver or stone vessel until all liquid evaporates, then sliced and roasted).

Grind each of the above ingredients into a fine powder, then add cinnabar and grind thoroughly.

Instructions for Use

For newborns, half a qian; for children one week old and older, 1 qian; adjust the dose according to the child’s size. Administer with Gold-Silver-Mint Decoction three times daily.
