Processing
Coarsely crush the ingredients and place them inside a pillow (the pillow should be made from Shanyang cypress wood harvested on the 5th day of the 5th month or the 7th day of the 7th month; it should be 1 chi 2 cun long, 4 cun high, 3 cun 5 fen wide, and hold 1 dou 2 sheng. Select cypress heartwood with a red core for the lid; all parts should be 4 fen thick,drill three rows of holes the size of a millet grain, with 40 holes in each row). Place the eight toxic ingredients at the bottom and the twenty-four fragrant ingredients on top. Once filled, secure the lid with bamboo nails and seal all four edges with wax, leaving only the top unsealed; instead, wrap it in three layers of crimson gauze. Replace the herbs once a year.
Instructions for Use
Begin with the Winter Solstice; after 100 days of using it as a pillow, the tendons and bones will become strong, and the body and face will glow with radiance—at which point remove one layer of gauze; after 200 days, when blood and vital energy are abundant and all ailments are cured, remove another layer; after 300 days, remove yet another layer. After three years, teeth and hair will become even stronger, and one’s complexion will regain the radiance of youth.
