Drug Formulation

Chaihu 5 qian, Ma Huang (lightly pounded) 5 qian (knots removed), Dang Gui root 3 qian, Sheng Di Huang half liang, Huang Lian 5 qian, Gan Cao 2 qian, He Zi Pi 2 qian (wrapped in damp paper and steamed).

Processing

First, use 2 bowls of water to decoct Ephedra until reduced to 1 bowl; skim off the foam. Coarsely crush the remaining six ingredients into pieces the size of beans, sift out the fine powder, weigh them, and add them to the decoction to simmer together. When a drop of the mixture does not disperse in water, skim off the foam, add a small amount of honey, and simmer briefly.
