Formula

15 g of Chuanxiong, 10 g of Bai Zhi, 5 g of Xixin, 10 g of Cang'erzi, and 30 g of honey.

Note: Xanthium Fruit,Raw burdock seeds contain hepatotoxins.,only processed/roasted cang er zi for TCM use,raw fruit is toxic;

How To Make

First, sort out any impurities from the Chuanxiong, Bai Zhi, Xi Xin, and Cang’erzi, wash them thoroughly, and let them air-dry or sun-dry. Chop them into small pieces, then place them all in a clay pot. Add water and let them soak for a short while, then simmer for 30 minutes. Strain the mixture through clean cheesecloth to remove the solids. Pour the strained liquid into a container, and when it has cooled to a warm temperature, stir in honey until well blended.

Promotes the flow of qi and opens the orifices; invigorates blood circulation and relieves pain.

Indications

Effective for pain associated with various types of rhinitis and sinusitis.

Usage

Take twice daily, once in the morning and once in the evening.

1. Chuanxiong (chuān xiōng) enters the Liver, Gallbladder, and Pericardium meridians. It promotes blood circulation and the flow of qi, dispels wind, and relieves pain; it is known as the “herb that regulates qi within the blood.” It ascends to the head and eyes, effectively treating various types of pain in the head and face, unblocking the flow of qi and blood in the head, and relieving headaches caused by vascular spasms.
2. Angelica dahurica (bái zhǐ) enters the Lung, Stomach, and Large Intestine meridians. It relieves exterior syndromes and dispels cold, dispels wind and alleviates pain, opens the nasal passages, dries dampness, and expels pus. It specifically targets the Yangming meridian and is particularly effective for pain along the brow ridge, forehead headaches, nasal congestion, and runny nose.

Formulation Logic: Angelica dahurica dispels wind-cold and opens the nasal passages; Chuanxiong promotes the circulation of qi and blood and relieves headaches. When combined, they dispel wind pathogens and unblock the meridians, simultaneously alleviating head and facial pain and nasal congestion. Honey tonifies the middle burner and moistens dryness, moderating the pungent, warm, and drying nature of Chuanxiong and Angelica dahurica, protecting the stomach, and harmonizing the flavors of the herbs.

Chuanxiong Baizhi Honey Drink is a traditional Chinese medicinal herbal beverage. It is formulated with Chuanxiong (Ligusticum chuanxiong) and Baizhi (Angelica dahurica), sweetened with honey.
